Mauna Kea Beach Hotel » Golf

The Mauna Kea Golf Course is in process of renovation, led by Mr. Rees Jones, son of original golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. We anticipate reopening the championship golf course in December 2008 and hope to start reserving tee times in the Summer.

Mauna Kea's greens, tees, fairways and rough will all be replaced with new hybrids of turf that can be groomed for the skill levels of both resort and professional golfers. The bunkers will be restored to their original configuration. Plans include rebuilding greens and tee boxes, without changing their original design intent and challenge. Jones' vision is to maintain the integrity of his father's design, while utilizing today's technology to be more efficient in caring for this Big Island Hawaii golf course.

In the meantime, Hapuna Golf Course, just south of Mauna Kea, welcomes golfers of all skill levels to enjoy the challenge designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, with breathtaking ocean views from almost every hole, and the fun, comfortable atmosphere of Arnie's clubhouse restaurant.
